Trobbu's hotel division receives the Empresa Socialmente Responsable (ESR) Distinctive from Cemefi for the first time, recognizing its environmental, social, and governance commitments.
Trobbu's hotel division — part of a Yucatecan company with an international presence — has been awarded the Empresa Socialmente Responsable (ESR) Distinctive for the first time in 2026, granted by the Mexican Center for Philanthropy (Cemefi).
To achieve this recognition, the company carried out a comprehensive process of documentation, structuring, training, and evidence gathering throughout 2026, with the support and advisory of Proyecto H, a consulting agency specializing in sustainability. This effort was led by the corporate Sustainability and People teams.
As part of the process, information was compiled on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) matters, addressing the indicators and criteria established by Cemefi. The documentation then went through an evaluation process in which the submitted information was reviewed to determine the company's degree of compliance with social responsibility and sustainability standards. Finally, in August 2026, Trobbu received the news that it had been granted the distinctive.
Representing the company, Diana Pérez of Trobbu's Sustainability Department attended the award ceremony organized by Cemefi in Mexico City on October 13, where she received the distinctive on behalf of Elías Barbosa, Managing Director of Trobbu.
Among the practices that stand out in the company's social responsibility actions are sustainability and health training for its staff; environmental volunteering days; the separation and valorization of waste generated at its hotels through recycling and composting processes; and the incorporation of renewable energy, particularly through the installation of solar panels in Tulum, among other initiatives.
Earning this first distinctive represents an important step in Trobbu's commitment to sustainability and corporate social responsibility. The company reaffirms its will to continue and strengthen these initiatives, as well as to work toward its next recertification, maintaining a culture of continuous improvement and generating value for its investors, guests, staff, and the communities where it operates.
With this recognition, Trobbu reaffirms that sustainability and social impact are a permanent commitment — one that seeks to translate into positive outcomes for all.
