Elías Barbosa
Elías Barbosa has been involved in the construction and real estate sectors for more than 25 years, where he started at just 17 years old, and has led the planning, development and construction of major hotel brands such as Hyatt Hotels Corporation, Iberostar, Majestic Resorts, Palace Resorts, Excellence Resorts, among others, in locations such as Mexico and Jamaica.
His broad perspective and versatility give him an exceptional entrepreneurial vision, whichhas resulted in the creation of unique real estate projects such as Campus Residencias Mérida, providing university students with everything they would need while completingtheir studies, which has been thoroughly recognized in the southeastern part of Mexico.
After working in construction for a few decades, Elías set out to open a luxury hospitalityboutique collection to fill a void in the market. He founded TROBBU, a companyrevolutionizing the hospitality, real estate and tech sectors, providing travelers with aninsider’s advantage to vacation villas and apartments in some of the world’s bestdestinations. The company debuted its first property with villas in Tulum in February 2025, will be opening in Los Cabos, Madrid, San Miguel de Allende, Mérida Yucatán and Mahahual within the next two years, and will continue expanding throughout Mexico, theCaribbean and Europe in the next five years. Guests can opt to stay in the villas through thehotel side of the project or can invest and become weekly fractional owners where they can choose to either go on vacation, swap their week with other TROBBU destinations or place it in the rental pool in order to generate income.
